A is for arcade?

I think between Scott and I, he is more of a kid. I mean that in the most sincere way possible. He is rarely upset, he is always so nice to everyone, and he always has energy to do anything. I am more of a "stay home and chill" person, and although he bears with me and we mostly hang out at home, I know he enjoys going out and doing things that do not involve always sitting on the couch.
So, last week it occurred to me that it would be fun to take him on a surprise date where he could feel like a kid and enjoy an afternoon together. Dave & Buster's was the surprise destination! We are the worst at keeping surprises from each other. So this time I was determined to not say a word about where we were going. Until... we were having lunch the day of our date, and I told Scott that the surprise destination COULD qualify as an "A" date if we started "Alphabet Dating". I never thought he would guess "Arcade" from my clue, but he did!!!!!!

We went, we saw, and we kind-of conquered... It was so full we didn't really enjoy the games. I felt we had entered a pool of bacteria and germs, yuck! And, we thought it was a "21 and up" place, but oh were we wrong! Kids everywhere, and mothers screaming behind them to not leave their sight! We tried to have a good time, and ended up giving our earned tickets to a little boy so he could get a cool reward. Let's hope our "B" date goes better.

Please don't end!

Last weekend was so wonderfully blissful, I really did not want time to go by because I didn't want it to end. I didn't really do much but it felt like a lot: lots of roomie time, lots of Noah time, lots of Scott time (we went on our first Alphabet date... more info to come), lost of cleaning time, lots of watching the Winter Olympics time... I love the weekends!

Ps. Friday it was Dad's birthday, and as a perfect example of what parents do, he gave me a much needed surprise: He is coming to visit!!!!! I am so excited for him to come! He is doing the MS150 in April, and I will be there at the finish line representing the Quijano women. In the meantime, I can't wait for next weekend to get here, see what fun adventures it will bring.

40 to go...

Today is the first day of 40 that I will try very hard to not get on Facebook. I am what you would call... addicted to Facebook. I use it with the excuse that I need a way to easily connect with my friends and family. But really, how often do I write a message or a wall post or chat? I use it to know more about people's life. Which posts the question: is it really absolutely and totally necessary for me to know what some of all 300+ of my friends are doing? The answer is NO!

Reason why I have decided to give up Facebook for Lent. Although I no longer consider myself "catholic", I think this religious time brings me a bit of an explanation as of why I need to find a better use of my time. Maybe after the 40 days are over, I will give it up for good! Who knows!

Ps. It hasn't been that easy!

Haircut

I had been trying to put off that phone call for a while... I make it out to be something so much more dramatic and important than... a haircut!

I know, believe me, I know! Its not a big deal, it will grow back, blah blah blah... But when you have gone to the same place for years (4 to be exact) and you get so comfortable because you just know they won't do something "new", "trendy", "experimental", or whatever you want to name it, something in you dreads that phone call to make an appointment with someone who doesn't know your taste, your picky preferences...

I had to do it today! I have betrayed my trusty University Style @ The Shops (Waco, TX) for Visible Changes @ Memorial City. Lets just hope they meet my expectations and don't make me regret spending so much money on a "short trim and a little bit of styling"

Happy V-day!

{via here}

I am not one to celebrate "commercial" holidays. Although Scott may argue this one, I think love should be celebrated every day. Sometimes I just choose to celebrate it by picking on him, or by getting moody for no reason, or by simply having "one of those days", but I do appreciate all the things he does for me!

So to all of those whom I love, and I may not express it every day (family, Scott, and dear friends): Happy Valentines day! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and you express to the ones you love how much they mean to you!

Babies

I stumbled upon this trailer... Made me laugh out loud (at the office, oops), and thought I would share. I can't wait till it comes out on April 16th! The documentary is called Babies, and it is about the first year in the life of four little ones from the four corners of the world. To check out the trailer go here.
